Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent re-solidification of an aluminum in windboxes by arranging heatable contact surfaces at a passage of molten metal dropped from an aluminum combustion barrel, heating the contact surfaces, and insulating the contact surfaces from the windboxes. CONSTITUTION: Heatable contact surfaces 62, 64 for storing dropped aluminum from a combustion barrel 10 from a funnel 62, which has a tube 64 oriented down. The tube 64 discharges molten aluminum captured by the funnel 62 to prevent re-solidification of the aluminum in the windboxes. A heating power source 80 holds the surfaces 62, 64 and pipes 66 at 660 deg.C or higher. The pipe 66 for holding the aluminum in a molten state until the stored molten aluminum is discharged is connected to and sealed by the tube 64, and separated from sidewalls 63 of the windboxes via perforations 69.
