Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a character with high resolution similar to a graphic by operating and outputting the dot coordinates of respective strokes of a character concerned stored in a character source table memory and a stroke table memory by an arithmetic unit for strokes.
CONSTITUTION: A stroke table for allocating a character shape sorted/stroke sorted mark based upon a character shape of a KANJI (Chinese character) style or the like and a stroke shape different in each character shape to each stroke element constituting a character is formed. A component having high appearance frequency out of different constitutional components such as respective radicals (HEN, HOU, KANMURI, ASHI, etc.) is set up as a character source. The stroke arithmetic unit 16 generates a vector signal corresponding to the stroke mark of each stroke constituting the character which are respetively stored in the character source table memory 21 and the stroke table memory 17 and converts the vector signal into a prescribed character shape signal of its corresponding character. Consequently a character, a mark, a graphic, or the like stored in the memory can be converted into a character shape signal only by inputting a character signal for character selection and a parameter for character selection.
