Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst component produced from diethoxy-magnesium, an alkylbenzene, TiCl4 and a phthalic acid diester as raw materials and capable of producing a polymer having extremely high stereoregularity when used in combination with an Si compound and an organic Al compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective solid catalyst component can be produced by suspending diethoxymagnesium in an alkylbenzene, reacting with <=1/2pts.vol. of TiCl4 and a phthalic acid diester based on 1pt.vol. of the alkylbenzene at 80-135 deg.C, washing the resultant solid substance with alkylbenzene and reacting with <=1/2pts.vol. of TiCl4 based on 1pt.vol. of the alkylbenzene in the presence of said alkylbenzene. The catalyst component can be used as a catalyst for the polymerization of olefins by combining with an Si compound of formula (R is alkyl, aryl, etc.; R' is alkyl; 0<=m<=3) and an organic Al compound.
