Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the phase shift of a luminance signal and a chrominance signal by a jitter due to a recording and reproducing by frequency-interleaving the high-area component of a wide-band luminance signal to a low-area component, executing a band compression, further, separating a video signal into the luminance signal and a chrominance signal and low-area-converting the chrominance signal. CONSTITUTION:The video signal is separated into a luminance signal Y and a chrominance signal C by a come-line filter 2, the separated chrominance signal C passes through a band-pass filter 4, is frequency-converted by a balanced modulator 5, after that, the unnecessary high-area component is removed by a low-pass filter 6 and a new chrominance signal CN is removed. On the other hand, the luminance signal Y is separated into a low-area component YL and a high-area component YH by a low-pass filter 9 and a band-pass filter 11, after the high-area component YH is frequency-converted by a balanced modulator 13, the unnecessary component is removed from it by a band-pass filter 14 and it is removed as a new high-area component YH'. It is mixed with the low-area component YL by an adder 16, the unnecessary component is removed by a low-pass filter 17 and it is taken out as a new luminance signal YN. Thus, the phase shift of the luminance signal and the chrominance signal by the jitter can be prevented.
