Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer having high purity and quality in high efficiency, by contacting a powdery polycarbonate containing impurities with an organic solvent in a vessel provided with a solid-liquid contact zone, a solid- liquid separation mechanism and a drying mechanism, separating the organic solvent and drying the powder. CONSTITUTION:A powdery polycarbonate containing impurities such as low- molecular weight components and unreacted bisphenol A, etc., and an organic solvent (e.g. acetone) are introduced into a vessel provided with a solid-liquid contact zone, a solid-liquid separation mechanism and a drying mechanism to effect the contact of the powdery polycarbonate with the organic solvent. The powdery polycarbonate is separated from the organic solvent by the solid- liquid separation mechanism consisting of e.g. a filter plate placed near the bottom of the treating vessel. The obtained powdery polycarbonate is dried by the drying mechanism to obtain the objective polymer.
