Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to be prevented from incapacity of travelling due to the abnormal value of set fuel injection amount by outputting the normal sensor side opening signal even if one of two throttle sensors becomes abnormal. CONSTITUTION:A throttle valve opening sensor 3 is constituted from a first throttle sensor 3a for detecting the opening of a throttle valve throughout the whole region from the fully closed and opened positions and a second throttle sensor 3b for detecting said opening throughout the whole region from the fully closed position to a predetermined intermediate opening. These sensors 3a, 3b output independently output values respectively to a control unit 1. When abnormalities of sensor 3b are detected there, the opening over the whole region is detected only by the sensor 3a. On the other hand, when abnormalities of sensor 3a are detected, the opening signal of sensor 3b is forcibly selected to output the opening signal corresponding to the predetermined max. opening of fail safe with respect to the opening exceeding the max. detecting opening.
