Abstract
PURPOSE: To make specifications of a line such as external shape, weight, tensile load, etc., equivalent to those of an already installed line by twisting several aluminum-coated steel wires of a sector-like cross section together to make an inside space for accommodating an optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber 4 is accommodated in a space formed by twisting a plurality of strands obtained by coating steel wires 1 of a sector-like cross section with aluminum 2. Tensile force of an electrical line is borne by the steel core wire 1 while the aluminum coating 2 contributes to the role of a conductor. The optical fiber is protected from damages caused by lightning, etc. Since not only the cross section of the steel wire 1 but also that of the aluminum coating 2 is made to be a sector-like shape, bending and twisting rigidities of the strands are large enough so that those wires do not come apart or do not enter the inside space. Since the area occupied by the strands of the sector-like cross section is large, it is easy to make dimensions of the electrical line equivalent to those of the conventional aerial line.
