Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic polyester fiber, having a specific value or above of size, strength and modulus of elasticity of single filament with hardly any nonuniformity of cross-sectional structure thereof, by melt spinning an aromatic polyester capable of exhibiting anisotropy in melting. CONSTITUTION:The aimed polyester fiber, obtained by melt spinning an aromatic polyester, such as a polyester consisting of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and aromatic diol, capable of exhibiting anisotropy in melting by using a melt spinning apparatus and having properties of >=25 denier size of single filament of plural bonded unsolidified filaments, >=20g/d strength and >=500g/d modulus of elasticity and suitable as tire cords, ropes, cables, fishing lines, speaker cones, bulletproof jackets, space suits, safety gloves, etc.
