Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a weft feeder enabling a weft to be fed smoothly with slight tension fluctuation by the aid of a wound yarn sensor set up inside a storage drum and acting so as to sense the quantity of a yarn (weft) wound around the storage drum through the sensing element on the tip of a sensor lever and a contactless switch. CONSTITUTION: As a yarn (weft) is wound around the outer circumference of a storage drum, the yarn soon begins to rise along the slant portion of a sensor lever 1 to effect gradually pressing down the lever 1; when the yarn is wound further, a part projected on a yarn guide 8 descends, while the sensor lever 1 on the side of a detective element 5 ascends via a bearing 4, approaching the detective element 5 to a contactless switch 6, thereby sensing the quantity of the yarn, thus enabling the yarn to be fed smoothly with a considerably slight tension fluctuation compared to that by sensing a yarn using an external contact-type sensor.
