Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an oxide superconducting wire material by making a salt of an element showing superconductivity at high temperatures adhere at a high temperature to the surface of a nonmagnetic superconducting wire material having a mechanical strength, oxidizing by heating, and further forming a peripheral insulation layer.
CONSTITUTION: An electricity conducting wire material 1 which is nonmagnetic and having sufficient mechanical strength is cleaned in a cleaning device 3 with a detergent such as trichloroethylene. Rinsing residual detergent in a cleaning device 4, the surface of the material is made clean. The material is then passed through an application device 5 in which acid salt solution of an element which shows superconductivity at high temperatures such as Cu, Ba, and Y to apply salt on the surface of the material. The material is then heated in a composite heat treatment device 6 and the acid salt is decomposed and oxidized to form an oxide layer. This is further heated to change the oxide layer into perovskite structure for obtaining a superconductive layer. The obtained material is put into an insulation application device to form an insulation film on the surface. Adjusting the size of the material, a superconducting wire material of a large length with flexibility is obtained.
