CONSTITUTION:When the on-signal of an SDS signal is inputted from the terminal equipment of the center side to a multiplexing control circuit 9, a switching signal 11 is outputted to a multiplexing circuit 7 and an oscillator 8 is driven. Thus, the multiplexing circuit is set to one multiplexing mode. A sine wave signal is sent from a detector 7 to a remote side data MODEM 2. Thus, the sine wave signal is detected by the detector 17 and a detecting signal is outputted to a multiplexing control circuit 19. A switching signal 20 is outputted by the control circuit 19 and given to a multiplexing circuit 16. The multiplexing circuit 16 is switched by the switching signal 20 and set to the same mode as the multiplexing mode of a center side data MODEM 1. Next, when the off-signal of the SDS signal is outputted, the same operation is executed and both the MODEM 1 and the MODEM 2 are set to the other multiplexing mode.
