Abstract

PURPOSE:To extract printed books being carried in overlapped state continuously and reliably by providing a rotatable roll for holding a printed book in place on a carrying conveyor between a temporal stopper and a scoop pawl. CONSTITUTION:When it is required to extract a portion of printed book, a temporal stopper 11 is lowered temporarily to an operating position by means of an air cylinder 13. A printed book 3A traveling below a hook pawl 11A at the top of the temporal stopper 11 travels as it is through the operating position, but a following printed book 3B stops temporarily at the operating position with the tip thereof being hooked to the hook pawl 11A. Consequently, the tip of the printed book does not pass through the pawl 11A of the temporal stopper 11 when the temporal stopper 11 is lowering. Upon elapse of predetermined time after lowering of the temporal stopper 11 to the operating position, a scoop pawl 15 lowers to the operating position and rides on the printed book 3A. Upon elapse of predetermined time, the temporal stopper 11 rises. Consequently, the following printed book 3B moves and scooped by the scoop pawl 15.
