Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a sorter by providing a bin moving means for setting a gap between bins moved to sheet discharging section of a sheet carrying means and to sheet take-out section of a sheet take-out means and a bin at immediately upper stage wider than a gap between bins located at other positions. CONSTITUTION:Under sorting mode, respective bins 61 are moved sequentially in vertical direction stage by stage to a position facing with discharge section A of a sheet carrying means 50 through rotation of a spiral cam 65 every time when a sheet is fed in. Under stable processing mode, the bins 61 are moved stage by stage to a position facing with sheet take-out section B through rotation of the spiral cam 65 every time when a sheet is taken out from the bin 61. Gap between bins 61 facing with the discharging section A and the take-out section B and a bin 61 at immediately upper stage is set wider than a gap between bins 61 located at other positions. Consequently the size of a sorter 40 is reduced while the sheet is passed reliably and taken out smoothly.
