Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify a control system and to improve reliability, by a method wherein a load thrust control oil pressure and a starting clutch oil pressure having a proportional relation with transmission torque are controlled through a single solenoid valve. CONSTITUTION:During idling before starting, a signal oil pressure P2 of a solenoid valve 302 for controlling load thrust is zero, an output oil pressure P4 of a clutch control valve 160 is reduced to a low value through the force of springs 170 and 171, and a starting clutch 20 is in a half-clutch state. When a throttle is opened to a specified opening or more, the duty ratio of the solenoid valve 302 for controlling load thrust is gradually increased along with an engine generation torque, and the engaging force of the starting clutch 20 is increased to start starting. Simultaneously, a load thrust control valve 210 is actuated, and an oil pressure in an oil chamber 17 for controlling load thrust is also increased. However, the signal oil pressure of a solenoid valve 301 for controlling a speed change ratio is controlled to a specified value or less, the thrust of a pulley 12 on the drive side is low, that on the driven side is high and kept at a minimum speed ratio, and transfer to speed change control is effected. This constitution enables simplification of a control system, and improvement of reliability.
