Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a fine defect with good sensitivity by setting a gate signal for measuring the signal height of an ultrasonic wave echo obtained on the center axis of an ultrasonic wave beam where it is converged on one point in an ultrasonic wave receiver, and scanning the entire surface of an extremely thin plate. CONSTITUTION:A pulse voltage for generating the ultrasonic wave is sent from an ultra sonic wave transmitter 12 to an ultrasonic probe 5 and a reflected ultrasonic wave from a body to be inspected is received by the probe 15 and amplified by the ultrasonic wave receiver 13. The transmitter 12 and receiver 13 operate under the control of a flaw detection controller 14. When an ultrasonic wave flaw detection waveform is specified with the gate signal set by the controller 14, its analog signal is converted by a peak detector 16 into a signal corresponding to the highest value. Further, the peak signal is converted 17 into a digital value, stored in a flaw detection result recording memory 18, and displayed 19 as image information according to a program in the controller 14. Data corresponding to a shape drawing such as the plate thickness of the extremely thin plate as the body to be inspected is inputted from a data input device 20 and stored in an input data memory 21.
