Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a blocking member made of conductive ceramic from destruction due to thermal stress by forming the blocking member with a coefficient of thermal expansion near that of an electrode and an external introduced member, which are supported by the blocking member. CONSTITUTION:The open end of a light emitting bulb 1 made of transparent ceramic is blocked with a blocking member made of conductive ceramic, which is formed from an electrode fixing part 2a to support a W electrode shaft 4a in the bulb and an externally introduced member fixing part 2b to fix an externally introduced member 5 made of niobium, wherein the two fixing parts 2a, 2b are made with a coefficient of thermal expansion of the electrode shaft 4a and the externally introduced member 5, respectively, which are borne by them 2a, 2b. For ex. the electrode fixing part 2a is prepared by compressive molding of W powder and alumina grains while the externally introduced member fixing part 2b by compressive molding of niobium powder and alumina grains, and the two moldings are put in contact with each other and baked to accomplish a consolidated blocking member.
