Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the internal resistance of an electrolyte circulation type secondary battery to increase charge-discharge energy efficiency by unitedly bonding reaction electrodes with bipolar plates. CONSTITUTION:Reaction electrodes 2, 4 are made of carbon cloth or carbon felt, and bipolar plates 1, 5 are made of plates of graphite, carbon, or conductive elastic. The reaction electrode and the bipolar plate are bonded each other in such a way that a graphite plate is covered with carbon powder-adsorbed resin by electrocoating and carbon cloth is placed on its surface, then they are baked at high temperature for bonding, or a graphite plate and carbon cloth are bonded with a conductive adhesive, or a sheet is formed with a mixture of thermoplastic resin and acetylene black, and a graphite plate, this sheet, and carbon cloth are stacked in order, then heated for bonding. The contact resistance is substantially decreased, stability is increased, the fastening force of cell stack is decreased, the fluid resistance of an electrolyte flowing on the carbon cloth is decreased, pump driving power is decreased, and energy efficiency is increased as a whole.
