Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of an opaque layer and to make square ice having a fine external appearance by a method wherein the outer periphery of a part of an ice making vessel is covered with a heat insulating material and chill for freezing is brought into contact with only the outer periphery of the residual part of material water in an ice making process. CONSTITUTION: An ice making vessel 1 is constituted of a metal or plastic material and has columnar ice-making recesses formed in a plurality (five in the figure) and the inner surface for freezing is coated with a fluoroplastic layer so as to make releasability excellent. On the outer periphery of this ice making vessel 1, besides, a heat insulating layer 2 constituted of a material of low heat conductivity such as foamed styrol is provided about 2 cm, when the ice making vessel 1 is 8(W)×14(L)×2(H) (cm), for instance. Ice making material water containing dissolved components such as mineral, a coloring matter, spicery, salt and a chemical seasoning matter is put in the ice making vessel 1, the vessel is set in an ice making chamber and the water is frozen with chill of a temperature about -15--30 deg.C. In this way, freezing proceeds in one direction toward the heat insulating layer and it is possible to prevent occurrence of an opaque layer and to make fine square ice.
