Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable high-speed and clear printing through flexible correspondence with printing conditions such as the kind of a ribbon, a paper or a thermal head, by preliminarily writing driving time control data in a ROM, and fetching the control data based on printing history data generated from a printing history data generating circuit. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 operates according to a microprogram, and sends printing/non-printing data on each dot of a thermal head to a printing history data generating circuit 2. The circuit 2 supplied with the printing bit data forms printing history data, and inputs the printing history data to an address input of a ROM 3. Driving time control data is preliminarily written in the ROM 3, and the time control data written at an address corresponding to the inputted printing history data is outputted. A driving time controlling circuit 4, supplied with the control data, gives a driving pulse with a driving time corresponding to the control data to a driving circuit 5, which passes an electric current to a heat generating element in a head 6 for the duration of the given driving pulse. The duration is so set as to obtain a uniform print according to the printing history of each head.
