Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain wool products that have hemp-like dry fabric hand of high durability by removing a part of the cuticular layer on the surface of wool fibers and coating the surface of the treated layer with a silica particle-dispersed resin. CONSTITUTION: A part of the cuticular layer on the surface of wool fibers is removed with chlorine or by oxidation with oxygen, anionic groups are formed thereon to modify the surface to hydrophilic properties. Then, a resin in which silica particles, particularly anionically modified silica particles are dispersed, for example, a polyamide epichlorohydrin resin that chemically bonds to the modified wool fiber surface is applied to form the coating layer whereby a wool product having hemp-like dry fabric hand durable to repeated washing or the like is obtained.
