Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain antistaining carpet having a high degree of duration by treating a synthetic fiber that is made hydrophilic more than a certain value of moisture content under the standard conditions or a synthetic fiber that has a moisture content of a certain value by itself with a specific polymer and applying a water-repellent and oil-repellent compound thereto. CONSTITUTION: A synthetic fiber that is made hydrophilic so that its moisture content exceeds 3% at 20 deg.C and 60 RH %, or a synthetic that has by itself the moisture content of >=3% at 200 deg.C and 60 RH % is treated with a water-soluble aromatic prepolymer with a molecular weight of 500-2,000 as a fixing agent (an aromatic sulfonic acid condensate, tannic acid or the like) after the post- treatment after dyeing, in addition, with water-repelling agent and an oil- repelling agent whereby the objective antistaining carpet having high duration of practical spotting or general staining prevention, excellent stain removal and high duration to abrasion actions or to cleaning is obtained.
