Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct the quantity of light emitted from each light-emitting diode, eliminate nonuniformity in printed density, enhance printing quality and enable high-speed printing, by providing a switching means for selectively switching a preset lighting time for each light-emitting diode. CONSTITUTION:A shift register 1 stores lighting data for printing. The data is data for turning ON or OFF an LED 4 corresponding to the shift register 1. With a set signal inputted to a latch circuit 2, the circuit 2 is operated to input data signal from the shift register 1 to an AND circuit 5, and an output from the circuit 5 drives a transistor Tr, thereby turning ON or OFF the LED 4. Lighting time for LED 4 is set taking into account a correction value selected through switches S1-S4, and is switched according to the characteristics of the LED 4. Therefore, the quantities of light emitted from a multiplicity of LEDs arranged in a two-dimensional form are uniformized, whereby printing with uniform density is conducted, and higher printing quality can be obtained.
