Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically detect the degree of consumption and degree of deterioration of expandables and component parts to be periodically replaced and enhance workability of maintenance, by serially holding the operating time of a printer on the basis of each expendable component part of the printer, and returning to an initial state the stored content corresponding to the expendable component part when the expendable component pert is replaced. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 2 measures the printing time, the number of sheets printed or the like based on the printing operation of a mechanism part 1. The printing time, the number of sheets printed or the like is outputted through a mechanism part controller 3 to an nonvolatile memory 4, whereby the stored content of the memory 4 is updated. When the stored content of the memory 4 updated by the printing operation coincides with a specified value, a controlling part 5 displays the stored content of the memory 4 on an operator panel 6 to prompt the operator to judge the necessity for replacement of expendables or component parts to be periodically replaced. Replacement of some of the expendables and the component parts to be periodically replaced is conducted. Then, of the stored content of the memory 4, the stored content corresponding to the expandable or the component parts to be periodically replaced which are actually replaced is initialized by a controlling part 5.
