Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the detection of the shape of an integral roll system, by providing a plurality of diaphragms locally reduced in its thickness and rigidity to a shell part in a roll width direction to detect the strain or deformation of the diaphragms. CONSTITUTION:The strain caused by fine bending in a tensile direction is generated in the diaphragm part 2 arranged to a roll shell 1 by the tensile distribution of a strip like plate 4. A semiconductor strain gauge 3 is bonded to the diaphragm part 2 and the strain detected by the gauge 3 is outputted from a strain amplifier 6 through a slip ring 5. The tension of the strip like plate is calculated from the output of the gauge 3 by a method for performing calibration by preliminarily applying known tension or a theoretical calculation method. Further, the conversion to a shape from tension distribution can be performed.
