Abstract

PURPOSE:To read out characters in a document printed on an original up to its details, to improve operability and to reduce the cost of a device by providing the device with a reading means for applying a document to a reading computer as pixel information and a means for inputting various information. CONSTITUTION:In case of storing a document as a structure, an original is set up on a tablet 3 and its layout and attribute are specified by the operation of a mouse. Then, the original is reset on a scanner 2 and inputted to a host computer 1 as pixel information. The original is set up on the tablet 3 so that the contents of the original can be observed by an operator and its upper left corner is matched with a form matching position on the tablet 3 and a simple color display of the specified layout is formed on a CRT screen. The operator can specify the layout optionally, surely and easily by the guide display of a residual item whose input is required. Consequently, characters of the document printed in the original can be read out up to the details, the operability can be improved and the cost of the device can be reduced.
