CONSTITUTION:The 1st-4th picture monitor elements of an image sensor 13 where a spectral filter is not arranged are shielded from light as specified and the 5th picture element is not shielded. The coefficient K1(I) (I: index of integration time between 0 and 4) for further calibrating data obtained in respective integration times is calculated from a specific equation. The 1st and 2nd terms of the denominator of the equation are the outputs of the 5th picture element integrated in an integration time T0 (maximum integration time wherein the output of the sensor 13 is not saturated) at the time of light irradiation and in the dark and the 1st and 2nd terms of the denominator are the outputs of the (55-I)th picture element integrated in an integration time T0X2<4-1> at the time of light irradiation and in the dark. Picture element outputs for the respective integration times obtained after the coefficient calculation are multiplied by the coefficient K1(I) corresponding to the respective integration times to eliminate the influence of the time variation of the incident light.
