Abstract
PURPOSE:To check any deterioration in an electrical insulating property between electrodes by putting some irregularities on a side face adjoining between both electrodes of an electrical insulating spacer to be interposed between a pair of electrodes being opposed to each other at a space of the specified distance. CONSTITUTION:A surge absorbing element 1 is provided with a pair of disklike electrodes 2, 2'. Each ring space 3 with an electrical insulating property is interposed between these electrodes 2, 2'. Spacer members 31, 32 are stacked on this spacer 3, and furthermore a notch 31' extending over the whole inner circumference is formed in the member 31. A projection 2a heading for a space between these electrodes 2, 2' is installed in the inner surface center of the electrode 2. A top part of this projection 2a comes to an electrode surface adjoining to other side electrodes 2, 2' at a space with a specified distance required from the standpoint of capacity of the element 1. The electrodes 1, 2' and the spacer 3 are housed in an electrical insulating cylinder body 4, and electrodes 5, 5' are made to be a drawer electrode. It is thus possible to prevent any deterioration in the insulating property between electrodes attributable to an electrode forming material being evaporated with spark discharge.
