Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a rapid automatic operation of a printer, by providing a printing head with a paper leading end detecting part for setting a printing paper to the first printing position by detecting the leading end of the paper through rewinding the paper. CONSTITUTION:A paper leading-end detector 4 for detecting whether a paper is present is provided at an upper part of a printing head 3. With a switch 6 on a console panel 5 depressed, the paper 2 is rewound, and when the absence of the paper is detected by the detector 4, the rewinding of the paper is stopped based on the judgement that the leading end of the paper is detected. Therefore, it is possible to effectively use the paper and to easily match the paper to the first printing position without need to take time for manual operations.
