Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain porous ceramics having excellent uniformity of grain sizes and grain size distribution by subjecting a molding consisting of the pelletized powder of ceramics particles and combustible particles to a heating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The molding obtd. by molding the pelletized powder of the ceramics particles and the combustible particles is subjected to the heating treatment to burn and splash the combustible particles. The combustible particles such as carbon particles and glass beads which burn and splash at the temp. below the combustion temp. of ceramics suffice. The pelletized powder mentioned above can be prepd. by a known pelletization method, for example, wet process spray drying method. The above-mentioned molding is molded in the form of a hollow cylindrical body as well, in addition to plate and columnar shapes, by using a gypsum mold and centrifucally molding a slurry contg. the pelletized powder by said mold.
