Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the temp. of molten steel by efficiently burning carbonic material, by blowing powdery carbonic material from a bottom blowing tuyere by using a top and bottom blowing refining furnace, blowing oxygen on the molten steel surface from the top blowing lance at the same time and allowing a direct reaction between the carbonic material and the oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The powdery carbonic material 10 is blown into the molten iron bath 7 together with carrier gas from the bottom blowing tuyere 3 in the top and bottom blowing refining furnace. Further, the oxygen is blown from the top blowing lance 4 arranged over the surface of molten iron path 7 just above the bottom blowing tuyere 3. Then, the discharge of the powdery carbonic material 10 on the surface of molten iron 7 and its firing by top blowing oxygen jet are made to take place at the same position, and exothermic reaction of O2+C=CO2 is made to occur, to raise the temp. of the molten steel.
