Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of a steel structure and the erosion by sea sand by applying an electrodeposition current with the structure set in the sea as the cathode and an undersea electrode as the anode to form an electrodeposition coating layer on the steel structure surface, and then applying an electrolytic protection current between both electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A wire mesh, etc., as the undersea electrode 2 is set in the seawater W and opposed to the steel structure 1 stationarily set in the seawater W, and the structure 1 is connected to the cathode of a DC power source 3 and the undersea electrode 2 to the anode respectively through electric wires 4. The DC power source 3 is then actuated to apply an electrodeposition current between the structure 1 and the underwater electrode at the current density of about 0.1mA/cm<2>, and an electrodeposition coating film layer 5 is formed on the surface in the seawater W of the structure 1. When the layer 5 is formed in prescribed thickness, the electrodeposition current is stopped, an electrolytic protection current is applied at the current density of about 0.01-0.001mA/cm<2> to electrolytically protect the structure 1. By this method, a reliable anticorrosive property is imparted to the structure 1.
