Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve reliability and high speed responsiveness, by a method wherein a first throttle valve having a cylindrical passage and a second throttle valve to open and close the passage are rotatably held. CONSTITUTION:An intake air pipe 1 is provided with a first throttle valve 2 having an cylindrical passage 3 through which intake air sucked in an engine flows and a second throttle valve 4 to open and close the passage 3. Rotational drive of the throttle valve 2 is effected by transmitting the rotation force of a drive motor 131 through an electromagnetic clutch 133, and rotational drive of the throttle valve 4 is effected through the medium of an accel wire 8 through step on of an accel pedal 9. Intake air is rapidly controlled depending upon the rapid motion of the accel pedal 9, and flow resistance during full opening can be decreased. Further, by controlling the throttle valve 4 through control of the accel pedal 9 in a state to fully close the throttle valve 2 during failure in operation of the driven motor 131, running of a vehicle can be maintained.
