Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable quick measurement of an overhead ground wire current in case of a fault in an overhead transmission line, by detecting the position of a flat part of an input signal waveform to determine a current amplitude and a current phase utilizing the results. CONSTITUTION:A signal inputted at an input/output terminal 7 alternately repeats a portion of a fixed level of a reference signal irrelevant to a current value and a portion of a signal for measurement varying in proportion to an input current. A voltage difference detection circuit 2 outputs a high level of voltage pulse when a signal 7 and an output voltage difference of a delay circuit 1 is below a threshold and a pulse generation circuit 3 outputs a pulse synchronizing the falling of the pulse. Then, a peak holding circuit 5 holds a peak value to output a peak value of a signal portion for measurement only when an output of the delay circuit 4 is at a high level. A peak holding circuit 6 holds a peak value to output a peak value of a fixed level of reference signal portion irrelevant to a current value only when an output of the circuit 2 is at a high level.
