Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title composite wherein aggregate particles are homogeneously dispersed, whose extent of foaming is high and which is useful for constructional insulating material, sound insulating material and cushioning material, by heating a specific phenol resin compsn. and aggregate particles in the presence of a surface active agent and a solvent. CONSTITUTION:A foamable phenol resin compsn. (A) is obtd. by compounding 100pts.wt. (hereinafter abbreviated to pts.) precondensate (a) of a novolak type or resol type phenol resin being pref. powdery, 1-50pts. decomposable foaming agent (b) and, if necessary, 1-3pts. curing agent (c). The component A and aggregate particles (B) (e.g., foamed phenol resin particles) whose size is 1-50mm and being light weight org. or inorg. particles are heated at the foaming temp. or higher of the component A in the presence of 0.2-20pts. surface active agent (d) (e.g., dimethylpolysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer) and 1-100pts. solvent (e) whose b.p. is the same as the softening temp. or higher of the component (a) and lower than the curing temp. of the component A (e.g., methanol) to obtain the title component B-contg. phenol foam composite whose foaming ratio is 5-200.
