Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a nylon composite excellent in heat resistance, rigidity, etc., good in vibration-damping performance and suitable as, e.g., parts of an automobile engine room, by blending a fiber-premixed nylon with an elastomer. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber is first added to a nylon (e.g., nylon 6 or nylon 66) which constitutes a base polymer to form a glass fiber-rich matrix. The obtained glass fiber-premixed nylon is blended with an elastomer to obtain a nylon composite of good vibration-damping performance. As said elastomer, an ethylene/propylene elastomer is desirable in respect of cost, and urethane elastomer, polyester elastomer, etc. can be used. The amount of said elastomer used is suitably about 5-30% based on the glass fiber-premixed nylon.
