Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a bar code to be read certainly by moving the laser beams from a bar code reader in a zig-zag way within a prescribed scanning range in the direction perpendicularly intersecting its carrier direction on the outside surface of a cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:At the time when the type of cathode-ray tubes is discriminated by reading through a bar code reader 39 a bar code 25 provided on the outside surface of a cathode-ray tube 15 which is being carried, the laser beams 40 for reading by the bar code reader 39 are moved in a zig-zag way within a prescribed scanning range in the direction perpendicularly intersecting the carrying direction of the cathode-ray tube 15 on the outside surface of the cathode-ray tube 15. Thereby, a bar code which can be printed more clearly, that is, the bar code, in which bars in the direction perpendicularly intersecting the direction the cathode-ray tubes are carried are placed in parallel, can be used, and it can be read certainly.
