Abstract

PURPOSE:To make normal operation of a lamp unit possible even when sudden thermal stress such as thermal impact is imposed thereto by providing a driving circuit with a control circuit which makes an electric signal of overfrequency to flow for an optical period of time at the initial stage of lighting an electrolu minescence lamp. CONSTITUTION:When a driving switch SW1 of an electroluminescence (EL) lamp is put 'ON', an electric signal of overfrequency is made to flow from A-terminal of a microcomputer IC 1, which is a control circuit, for a prescribed period of time to cut an electrode short-circuit part, if any, and later a proper electric signal for normal lighting is made to flow to make an EL lamp to radiate. Once being made to radiate, an electrode short-circuit is sufficiently prevented during radiation. Thereby, the EL lamp is prevented from stopping radiation due to thermal impact.
