Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of tension estimation by expressing the torque arm coefft. of a rolling roll as the linear equation of various factors to affect this coefft. and successively estimating the coeffts. of these factors and the unknown parameters within the tension balance equations. CONSTITUTION:The material tension balance equation between two points A and B is expressed by the equation I describing the relation between physical quantities in the case of measuring or estimating the materiel tension between the two points A and B in the rolling direction of a continuous rolling mill. The equations are previously set by as much as the number (n) of the rolling stands between the two points A and B and the inter-stand material tension at the (n-1)th number is determined from the (n) numbers of the equations by a method of least squares. The values of the unknown parameters a(t) in the equation II obtd. by erasing the inter-stand material tension at the (n-1)th numbers from the equation I are successively estimated by the measured values of W and Z for every prescribed calculation period in the method for estimating the materiel tension of the continuous rolling mill. The inter-stand material tension at the (n-1)th numbers is estimated by the method of least squares using the estimated value of (a). The accuracy of the tension estimation is thereby enhanced.
