Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent faulty welds from occurring by forming a part which is not brought into contact with a sealed part at open edges of each corner part and the middle on each long side to groove parts of a sealed-in electrode. CONSTITUTION:Rectangular grooves 7, 8 circumscribed to sealed parts S in a package are provided respectively on an upper electrode 1 and a lower electrode 2 constituting a sealed-in electrode. Non-contact parts (k) which is not brought into contact with the sealed parts S in the package P are provided on the open edges of each corner part (i) and the middle part (j) on each long side of the upper electrode 1 or the lower electrode 2 where resistance welding current is concentrated in groove parts 7, 8. Since this non-contact part (k) is interposed, electric contact between the sealed parts S and each neighboring part is prevented and abnormal heating at the sealed parts S is prevented from occurring. Accordingly, excessive or short melting at the sealed corner parts and middle parts on long sides at welding time is not found and faulty welding is prevented from occurring.
