Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable recordings using a single light source by a method that includes a means to produce a scan synchronization signal to a recording material based on a light beam limited to a value not higher than a prearranged level of energy and a means to control the energy of a light beam based on the synchronization signal and information to be recorded so that said energy becomes higher than a prearranged level. CONSTITUTION:When a small current is supplied, a laser beam for reading which allows no recording material to be recorded is output by a semiconductor laser 10. On the other hand, when a large current is supplied, a laser beam for reading which allows the material to be recorded is output. Part of the laser beam for reading projected by the semiconductor laser 10 is transmitted through a beam splitter 20 and then is projected to a recording material 32 but no recording is performed due to insufficient amount of light. The remainder is reflected by the splitter 20 and projected to a diode 26. This causes generation of an output voltage in accordance with an amount of transmitted light, and subsequent output of the voltage to a synchronization signal generator 44. The energy of a light beam projected from a light source by a control means is increased on the basis of a synchronization signal produced by the synchronization signal generator 44 and recording information. Thus a light beam for reading is generated.
