PURPOSE:To obtain longitudinally the same recording start positions for each color, to eliminate the deviation of recording position among colors, and to enable a high-quality color recording, by a method wherein, a recording paper is fed back to a recording start position after being fed forward, and the counting action of a counter is carried out by the output pulses of an encoder. CONSTITUTION:The count value of a counter 25 at a recording start position is set to a predetermined value, and the blind printing of a recording paper 10 is carried out once prior to a color recording. At this time, the counter 25 incrementally counts the output pulses of an encoder 24. After that, the recording paper is fed back to the recording start position. Meanwhile, the counter 25 decrementally counts by the output pulses of the encoder 24 and stops at the position of the predetermined value. The recording paper is recorded while being fed, thereafter being fed back to the recording start position. Since a thermal transfer recording is carried out by the repetition of this action, the possibility of the longitudinal deviation of thermal transfer position for each color is eliminated.
