Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly manipulatable image forming device, by making a sheet conveying system unit openable and closable with respect to a device body including an image forming means so as to facilitate the maintenance of the device, such as, a process of paper jamming or the like. CONSTITUTION:A paper feed device 10 is disposed in the bottom part of a device body 1, and a feed roller 11 feeds out sheets A one by one from the topmost thereof. When a sheet conveying system unit U is opened to a device body 1, rollers 13a, 13b on the unit U side and a release lever 34 are moved away from a manipulating lever 36 on the device body 1 side. Then, the release lever 34 is rotated by a torsion coil spring 35, and is then stopped when a cam surface 34c abuts against a guide plate 14. At this time, the roller 13a is separated from the roller 13b overcoming a pressing spring 33 so as to form a clearance between both rollers 13a, 13b, thereby the contact condition is released.
