Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a preventive and remedy for bacterial pseudotuberculosis of fishes, containing a specific herb drug, absolutely free from the problems of side effects and development of resistant strain and giving on adverse effect to human body caused by residual drug. CONSTITUTION:An extract of herb drug is produced by extracting one or more herb drugs selected from OUREN (rhizome of Coptis japonica), OUBAKU (bark of Phellodendron amurense), GENNOSHOUKO (grass of Geranium thunbergii), YOBAIHI (bark of Myrica rubra), CHIYU (root of Sanquisorba officinalis), GOBAISHI (gall of Rhus chinensis) and CHOJI (flower bud of Syzygium aromatica) with an organic solvent (e.g. methanol), a mixture of an organic solvent and water or water. The drug is directly administered in the form of raw powder, extract or active component of the drug, added to a feed or administered in the form of a drug preparation. The dose is 0.001mg-100g/kg body weight daily in terms of the raw powder of the herb drug. The objective fish for the treatment with the drug is young yellowtail, grown yellowtail, amberjack, filefish, striped beakperch, black porgy, striped bass, etc.
