Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound for resin modifier, etc., stabilized by adding an alkaline compound and radical inhibitor to dibenzylidenesorbitols, reduced in coloration on heating at an amount of reduced stabilizer and suppressed in occurrence of aldehyde by decomposition. CONSTITUTION:The stabilized and aimed compound is obtained by dispersing dibenzylidenesorbitols [e.g. 1,3:2,4-bis(methylbenzylidene)sorbitol] expressed by the formula (X and X' are H or 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy or halogen; m and n are integer of 1-5; p is 0 or 1) into a mixed solvent of cyclohexane/ acetone, adding an alkaline compound (e.g. sodium stearate) and/or radical inhibitor (e.g., 2,6-di-tert.-butyl-p-cresol) in the range 10ppm-10wt.% based on total amount thereto, stirring the mixture and evaporating and removing the solvent.
