Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a transparentizing agent, containing, a dimer acid (modified substance) or salts thereof and capable of providing a soap having excellent transparency by a milling method. CONSTITUTION:The aimed transparentizing agent containing (A) a dimer acid obtained by thermally polymerizing normally a 16-22C unsaturated fatty acid using a catalyst, such as clay, (B) a modified substance prepared by addition reaction of maleic acid, etc., or hydrogenation of the component (A) or (C) sodium, potassium, ammonium lower amine salts, etc., of the components (A) and (B). The amount of the above-mentioned dimer acid salts contained in a soap composition is normally 1-15wt.% (preferably 3-10wt.%).
