て使用される印刷装置に関し、更に詳しくはこの
種印刷装置における紙送り系の状態確認方法に関
する。

のジヤムが続発することがある。即ち、正常動作
時には、紙送り系の履歴は電気的に検出管理され
ているが、電源が切れたり、あるいは装置をリセ
ツトした場合には、紙送り系の履歴記憶情報はす
べてクリアされてしまう。通常電気回路で用紙の
ジヤムを検出したときは、この種の出力装置にし
ばしば用いられる定着用ランプをOFFにし、ジ
ヤムが解除されるまで、定着用ランプは点灯しな
いようになつている。ところが、詰まつた用紙を
取除かないままで、上記のような電源の切断やリ
セツト操作が行われ、それによつて電気系がクリ
アされると、それまで電気的に検出されていたジ
ヤム信号もクリアされてしまう。そのために、次
に電源を投入しイニシヤル動作させた場合、詰ま
つていた用紙が定着用ランプの熱で焼けてしま
い、装置に損傷を与えるおそれがある。また、電
気系がクリアされたことにより、送信側へ、受信
可能信号を発するので、情報が送られて来て、プ
リントアウトすることになるが、前の動作で紙が
詰まつている場合は、それによつて新たな記録紙
も詰まつてしまい、情報を潰してしまうことにな
る。例えば、別にメモリを設けて、紙送り系の履
歴を記憶させておき、装置がジヤムの状態にある
ことを記憶表示させることはできるが、装置外に
負担をかけることになり、またコスト高となる。
