Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the display of the transfer process of picture data by using effectively an overlay memory having the display priority to an image memory of a picture display device. CONSTITUTION:The mask data 14 is produced prior to transfer of the picture data and sent to an overlay memory 16 having the display priority to an image memory 18. Then the data 14 is displayed. The first picture data is sent to the memory 18 based on the display state of the data 14. Then the picture data of the memory 18 is displayed with magnification together with the memory 16 kept under a non-display state. The next picture data is synthesized with the data 14 and sent to the memory 16 kept under a non-display state as the synthetic picture data. The display of the memory 18 is changed to the memory 16 with the end of the transfer of the picture data. Thus the displays are repeated alternately between both memories 16 and 18 for transfer of the picture data. Thus it is possible to avoid display of the transfer process of the picture data on a screen.
