Detailed Description of the Invention For example, in an electrostatic copying apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image carrier comprising a photoconductor layer is used as a transfer recording medium, electrostatic latent images are used for various purposes. However, the amount of charge on the electrostatic latent image carrier does not remain constant due to residual charge, humidity, atmospheric pressure, dirt, and many other factors, even when a constant power is supplied to the corona discharger. No. Therefore, even if the various factors mentioned above exist,
It has been proposed to control a high-voltage power supply that supplies operating current to the corona discharger so that a constant current always flows through the electrostatic latent image carrier.

As a representative example of the above-mentioned existing proposals, for example, the technical means disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 131635/1982 can be cited. A resistor is interposed in the current path returning to the high-voltage power supply, and the voltage of the high-voltage power supply is controlled by the voltage drop that occurs across the resistor.

However, the current Ipc returning from the electrostatic latent image carrier to the high-voltage power supply is extremely small, but on the other hand, active elements used in electrical circuits that detect voltage values and operate accordingly Since it will not operate unless an input voltage greater than the voltage value is applied, the current returned from the electrostatic latent image carrier to the high voltage power supply.
A resistor with a large resistance must be used to generate a voltage drop due to IPC and apply it to the electric circuit.

When a resistor with a large resistance value is used as the current detection resistor as described above, electrostatic coupling and electromagnetic coupling between the components inside the electrostatic copying machine occur. This poses a problem in that unnecessary signals are likely to be generated and the accuracy of current measurement is reduced.

Further, in FIG. 1, D is an electrostatic latent image carrier, and this electrostatic latent image carrier D is charged with corona discharge from a corona discharger CD, and the output of the high voltage power supply HT is applied to the electrostatic latent image carrier D. On the other hand, most of the current due to corona discharge from discharge pole 1 of corona discharger CD is

Since the case current Ic flows in the circuit of output terminal 4 of The case current Ic flows through the circuit connected to the case 2 of the corona discharger CD, and the current Ipc flowing through the electrostatic latent image carrier D is obtained by subtracting the case current Ic from the total current It (It -Ic) current value.

As mentioned above, the total current It, the case current Ic, and the current Ipc flowing through the electrostatic latent image carrier D have a relationship of magnitudes of It>Ic>Ipc. , without directly detecting the current Ipc,
The case current Ic, which has a larger current value than the current Ipc, and the total current It are detected individually, and the case current
If the current Ipc is detected by calculating Ipc = It - Ic using Ic and the total current It, even if a resistor with a relatively small resistance value is used as a current detection resistor, the current IPC can be detected.

In Figure 1, the resistor Rc is a resistance for detecting the case current Ic, and the resistor Rt is the total current It=Ic+
This is the detection resistor for Ipc, and the resistor Rc and the resistor
By applying the voltage drop occurring at Rt to the arithmetic circuit OP, the negative feedback signal sent from the arithmetic circuit OP to the line l corresponds to the current Ipc.

That is, if the voltage of the negative feedback signal sent from the arithmetic circuit OP to the line l is Vnf, the voltage Vnf is Vnf = K (It・Rt−Ic・Rc) …(1) According to the above equation (1) (where K is the gain of the arithmetic circuit OP), the resistances Rc and Rt are R=Rc=Rt
This is because it is expressed by the above equation (2).

As described above, in the corona discharge device of the present invention, the total current It and the case current Ic, which have a larger current value than the current Ipc flowing through the electrostatic latent image carrier D, are passed through the detection resistor, and due to the voltage drop, Since the total current It and the case current Ic are detected, and the current Ipc is detected based on the relationship Ipc = (It - Ic),
Even if a detection resistor with a small resistance value is used to detect the current, a sufficiently large voltage drop can be obtained. Therefore, the device of the present invention does not have the problems described above in the conventional device. It is clear that there is no such thing.

In the arithmetic circuit OP in Fig. 2, the resistor R 2 and the resistor R 5 are connected to the ends of the detection resistor Rc so that the current flowing into the arithmetic circuit OP does not cause a large error in the measured value. The current Ico flowing from the terminal to the resistor R2 and the current Ito flowing from the end of the detection resistor Rt to the resistor R5 are selected to have resistance values that satisfy the relationships Ico≪Ic and Ito≪It, respectively. Ru. Further, the resistors R 1 to R 4 may have equal resistance values such as R 1 =R 2 =R 3 =R 4 .

As is clear from the detailed explanation above, in the corona discharge device of the present invention, the small current Ipc flowing through the electrostatic latent image carrier is not directly detected, and the total current with a large current value is detected. Since the detection value current Ipc can be calculated based on the case current, it is possible to use a detection resistor with a small resistance value. It has become possible to realize highly accurate current control without the risk of picking up the current, and the device of the present invention satisfactorily eliminates the drawbacks of conventional devices.
