Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of vibrational energy, and to improve the efficiency of a motor by specifying the ratio of the outside diameter to the inside diameter of a ring for an ultrasonic motor using a piezoelectric ceramic ring as a stator. CONSTITUTION:A column 14 is insetted into a hole section at the central section of a piezoelectric ceramic disk 11, and the end face of the column is fixed. The piezoelectric ceramic disk 11 is polarized in the thickness direction, and metallic electrode films 12 divided into four sections are mounted oppositely to upper and lower surfaces. A rotor 13 is fitted around the disk 11 so as to be circumscribed with the disk. The electrode films are connected electrically, AC electric signals sinomegat, cosomegat, phase of which differs at 90 deg., are input respectively to electrode terminals 15, 16, and in-plane flexural oscillation is excited in the piezoelectric ceramic disk. Consequently, the rotor 13 is turned while the piezoelectric ceramic disk is employed as a stator. The ratio of the outside diameter D to the inside diameter (d) of the piezoelectric ceramic disk is selected within a range of d/D=0.475+ or -0.025 at that time, thus preventing the transmission of vibrational energy over a supporter 14, then acquiring a motor having an excellent efficiency.
