Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the double refraction of almost uniform value throughout the total information holding face of a video disc member by using an annular sprue passage on an intermediate position between a main sprue passage and a video disc cavity, and flowing the molten material into a disc cavity in a state that the injection material is free from the stress gradient. CONSTITUTION: A sprue passage 114 for injecting the optically transparent molten molding material and an annular gate passage 298 connecting the sprue passage and an annular molding cavity 306, having a thickness thicker than an inlet of the annular molding cavity, and comprising an annular flow reducing part positioned on the area of an inlet 110a and outlet 110b from the sprue passage and an annular outlet having a thickness smaller than the annular molding cavity, are mounted inside in the radius direction of the annular molding cavity 306. The shape of the annular gate passage 298 is formed so that the optically transparent molten molding material from the sprue passage 114 can be injected from the annular outlet into the annular molding cavity 306 without stress at the equal radial velocity to every direction, whereby the fluctuation of the double refraction value throughout the total information holding face of the optical disc formed in the annular molding cavity can be minized.
